In each of these revolutions, the revolutions began with an absolutist monarch, the revolutions all experienced a period in which ...

Trench warfare was a result of the continuous opposition on the western front due to the failure of the Schleiffen Plan, as well as the new developments in technology. The Schleiffen Plan relied on keeping the right wing strong and weakening the left wing. The left wing was to draw the French to attack the wrong area while the right wing swung around and took out the French against the German fortresses in Lorraine. The Germans were to stand on the defensive against Russia until France was ...

Trench warfare although it had some use in military strategies had no use for the people back home. Although all wars are sad and have impact on the civilians, this war, The Great War, had an extreme and terrible impact. The war literally killed almost an entire generation of all nations (excluding America because they came in late), of boys. And yes I use boys on purpose, the soldiers were so young and had so much more life to live. The war left so many wives without husbands, mothers without ...

One of the main reason that World War One evolved into trench warfare is because of all the new weapon advancements. War was becoming smarter, so the soldiers needed to find a way to fight the war in a more intelligent manner. Hence the birth of the trenches, trenches were a way for soldiers to avoid enemy artilery and gas. So with more weapondry advancement came more ways to protect yourself from the advancements, things like gas masks and fire-bays in the trenches. Gas masks were intruments ...

Question 1: How did World War I evolve into a trench war?

In 1914, at the Battle of the Marne, the French and British stopped the German advance on Paris. At that point, the Shleiffen Plan was useless; the first goal of the plan had been to destroy the French. The soldiers involved in the conflict began to dig trenches for protection, which were little more than shallow ditches and soon became shallow graves for many of them. However, the fatal flaw of the system was that it was primarily ...

Trench warfare was a devastating part of World War I. It affected almost everyone who participated including soldiers, civilians, and the government. Soldiers spent most of their time in the trenches, where they were exposed to disease, rats (Somewhere said that the rats got to be the size of cats), and lice. The smell of the trenches was overpowering. Soldiers occupied the trenches for weeks at a time and in that time they become numb to what happens around them.
Trench warfare became prominent in WWI for many different reasons. Not only were there advances in the types of weapons used, but there were also massive armies. The new weapons were state of the art providing easier ways to wipe out the enemy. Some of the weapons used included: rifles, machine guns, chlorine gas, mustard gas, the Zeppelin, tanks, planes, and torpedoes. The size of the armies often became a hindrance where mobility was concerned. Oftentimes, an army could not move swiftly ...

The springboard for trench warfare, like the Industrial Revolution, was technology. With new inventions such as machine guns and tanks and bombs and gases, new safety precautions had to be taken by the unfortunate soldiers; they dug pits in the ground to provide somewhat of a barrier between the shellfire raining down. With this, the only way a soldier could get shot by the fatal bullets was to poke his head out, or if the enemy could change the angle of the bullet. However, because no one ...

World War I evolves into a trench war for many reasons, the main one being the advancement of artilliery. When the machine gun was introduced, this changed the whole aspect of the war. Now you were not able to advance troops and take over land without the sacrifice of many men. This effect on the soldiers must have been jarring. For the men who saw their comrades die, cut down by one weapon would have scarred anyone. Also, the mental stress of treches must have scarring as well. Before ...

World War I evolved into trench warfare as a result of several factors. The German commanders, namely Moltke, botched the Schlieffen Plan by not providing enough force for a swift victory on the right. France managed to hold Germany off with the help of the British, and, as new weapons were put to use, the armies reached a stalemate. In order to find protection from the new machine guns and bombs of the opposing side, each army built trenches surrounded by barbed wire fences. After this point, ...

World War I became a trench war for many reasons but the main one is probably the development of new weapons. This was the first large war since Napoleon and things definitely changed during this time. With new weapons, comes new strategies. Since countries now had access to better weapons such as machine guns, so a new defense tactic had to be used. Trenches were built and proved helpful. They allowed protection and ability to move without being seen. There were, however, many drawback. These ...

He remained leaning against the door for a few seconds, and lit a cigarette. On the bed to his right lay two fairly clean blankets, and the straw mattress looked newly filled. The wash-basin to his left had no plug, but the tap functioned. The can next to it had been freshly disinfected, it did not smell.
1. With new technology came the need for new fighting techniques. People had to find new ways to hide from bombs, and heavy artillery, and many found that the best way to do this is by digging trenches and hiding in them. They figured that since bullets were traveling straight this would shield them from there bodies. And now with this protection, men were not getting killed and no progress was made through the war. Men were just sitting in filth and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Some ...

Between the trenches of opposing sides lay a No Man’s Land, through which ground attacks to the other side would be made, but the strategic planning of machine gun placing and other long-ranged weapons made gains from either side difficult. The constant fog that hung over the battlefield from gun firing, chlorine gas, and mist rolling off of the earth, also made it hard for soldiers to see where they were ...

In an attempt at surprise from both sides, both France and Germany end up facing each other head on in a stalemate. For Germany, their attack strategy named for the general who developed it, Count Alfred von Schlieffen, was meant as a takeover of France before Russia could mobilize an attack. In the Schlieffen Plan, weakened forces would act as a decoy for France to attack, while the real striking force would circle around through Belgium and defeat France. But, after Schlieffen’s death, the ...

During the course of 5 years, the art of war evolved from a point blank shooting range type of war, to a war ruled by machine guns, chemical warfare, and espionage. The main difference, though, between wars prior to WWI and WWI itself was the use of trench warfare. Trench warfare slowly evolved from traditional war, when the French and the Germans could not advance. Neither of the two sides wanted to give up an inch of land, so both of them “dug in” and held their ground. What they did ...

The countries of the Triple Alliance and their enemy the countries of the Triple Entente both have very strong armies.
I think that trench warfare was the result of the following:

1.Failure of the Schlieffen Plan

-Because Germany placed all of it eggs in one basket and placed all odds of winning into the Schlieffen Plan, failure to execute swiftly and effectively was costly. It wasn’t that the plan was a horrible idea, it was just very risky and very much a guessing game. It would either be a great success or a failure but with Moltke’s alterations (the idea to strengthen the left side of the attack, ...

Trenches were originally intended to protect the soldiers from the harm of war. Yet, it seems that the trenches had a more negative effect on the soldiers and the civilians. Many of the trenches were around six or seven feet deep, so when it rained the trenches would fill with water. In the water there would be dead soldiers, rats, and lice. This caused many diseases for the soldiers, which affected the entire community since the diseases would be spread.

In September 1914, the German Schlieffen Plan was stopped by the French and British at the Battle of Marne. Because of the failure of the plan, both sides spent the winter building trenches to protect themselves from the enemy. This type of protection was needed because of the new technologies such as machine guns.

Trenches were used in the west because it was a great defense strategies, it also helped the west have a better way of fighting with better protection. Trenches were long lines dug into the ground behind barbed wire fences. They were wet, dirty, and had many different diseases that were started because of them.
The main reason that WWI evolved into a trench war was the rate of the advancement of technology. Guns and bombs, et cetera, were being developed, but there was a problem with transporting all these weapons. All the machine guns were huge back in the day and, for the most part, had to stay in one place. WWI evolved into trench warfare for many reasons. One of these was poor execution of the Schlieffen plan. The plan clearly called for Germany’s left flank to be weak on the western front. This way, France would be tempted to attack the left flank, and then Germany’s right flank could make a counterclockwise move through Belgium and the Netherlands and move behind France’s troops. Several major problems arose, though. For one, the new German chief of staff, Moltke, made modifications ...

In years prior to World War 1, trench warfare was limited to being able to inflict casualties at only a short range. Trench warfare changed for World War 1 with the advancement of military technology. The advancement was greatly seen on the western front from autumn 1914 to spring 1918. Rats and lice were everywhere and disease spread rapidly. In fact, many of the lives that were lost were not because of the fighting, but of the poor conditions ...

Trench warfare was also hard on civilians. People's family members went off to war and left the family alone and worried for the soldiers' safety. Because of the above effects ...
